The scarlet ibis is one of my favorite birds because of their bright red coloring. For an ibis, they make quite an attractive sight if you’ve ever come across them in an aviary, zoo, or reserve. I snapped these scarlet ibis pictures while in a wildlife safari and I must say they are my favorite photos that I’ve taken in the bird classification.
A little background info from the IUCN tells us that the scarlet ibis in the wild have a large range with their colonies that can be seen all over the South American continent as well as in the Caribbean.
Scarlet ibis bird populations are being documented as decreasing, however, the IUCN classifies these birds as LC, or of Least Concern.
While it’s good to know that these beautiful birds are not endangered, I’m glad that organizations such as the IUCN are keeping an eye on the population numbers.
Hopefully you enjoy my scarlet ibis images and feel free to use them on your blog or website as long as you link back to animalsearth.org. Thanks.
